# Card Deal Safety Check

A free agent kit for anyone buying, selling or trading sports cards or trading cards in Facebook groups, Instagram, Discord, Reddit, at card shows or through marketplace messages. Paste a deal (the listing, the messages, what the photos show) and you get:
- the warning signs found, each tied to the words that triggered it;
- a risk rating based on those signs;
- the checks to run before you pay or ship;
- the safest way to complete the deal, and a polite message asking for the checks;
- clear reasons to walk away.

If a deal has already gone wrong, it walks you through what to do next.

It never calls a card or a person "legit" or "fake". It shows the signs and the checks; you decide.

## Setup

### ChatGPT (GPT Builder)
1. In ChatGPT, go to Explore GPTs, then Create.
2. Open the Configure tab. Name it "Card Deal Safety Check".
3. Paste the full text of `instructions.md` into Instructions.
4. Under Knowledge, upload the two files in `knowledge/`.
5. Add the conversation starters from `starters.md`, then save.

### Claude (Projects)
1. Create a new Project.
2. Paste `instructions.md` into the project instructions.
3. Add the two files in `knowledge/` to the project knowledge.

### Google Gemini (Gems)
1. Create a new Gem.
2. Paste `instructions.md` into the instructions box.
3. Add the two files in `knowledge/` as knowledge files.

### Claude Code
1. Copy `claude-code/agents/card-deal-safety-agent.md` to `~/.claude/agents/` (all projects) or `<project>/.claude/agents/` (one project).
2. Optional: copy the `knowledge/` folder into your project. The subagent looks for `**/card-deal-safety-agent/knowledge/*.md`.
3. Ask: "Use the card-deal-safety-agent subagent to check the deal in deal-notes.md."

## Usage examples

- Paste a seller's messages and say: "Is this safe?"
- "He wants Zelle only and says G&S is a hassle. What should I do?"
- "The cert lookup shows a different card than the photo. What does that mean?"
- "My buyer returned a different card. How do I report it?"

## How to customize

- **Your group's rules:** add your group's approved middlemen and payment rules to `knowledge/red-flags.md`.
- **Your country:** if you're outside the US, add your national fraud reporting service to `knowledge/if-scammed.md`.

## Limitations

- **It can't authenticate anything.** It can't authenticate cards, slabs, autographs or people, look up cert numbers or profiles, or contact anyone. You run the checks.
- **A low rating isn't a guarantee.** A low risk rating means few warning signs in what you shared, not that the deal is safe.
- **Terms change.** Payment provider and platform protections change, and dispute time limits apply. Check the current terms of the method you use.
- **Not legal advice.** For large losses, talk to your bank, the police or a lawyer.
