About Contract Clause Spotter

Most people sign contracts they haven't fully read, often because the other side calls it standard and wants it back tomorrow. The clauses that hurt later are usually the same ones: auto-renewals, one-sided caps and indemnities, IP grabs, non-competes and payment terms that leave you waiting months.

This agent kit reviews NDAs, SaaS and service agreements, MSAs and freelance contracts against a written checklist of 11 core clause types plus an "also watch for" list. Each clause gets a red, amber or green rating from your side of the deal, an explanation in plain words with deadlines and payment dates worked out, questions to ask, and suggested redline wording marked for discussion with your lawyer. It also lists important clauses that are missing for that type of contract, the items to raise first, and which ones need a lawyer.

Inside: the agent instructions, a clause checklist with red/amber/green criteria, a redline phrasebook, a negotiation question bank with a cover email, conversation starters, a Claude Code subagent, and a full worked example.

For freelancers, consultants, small business owners and operations staff who want to understand a contract before they sign or before they pay for a lawyer's time.

This is not legal advice and does not replace a lawyer. It never says a contract is safe to sign and doesn't predict court outcomes. It only reviews the text you give it; documents a contract refers to are marked as not reviewed. Laws differ by country and state.
